Before the annual IBMA Awards Show in Raleigh, NC a couple of weeks ago, Joe was able to meet banjo player extraordinaire, Noam Pikelny.
I am REALLY glad that banjos and banjo music are IN these days. This guy is one of the reasons! A giant among current stylists and a young, sharp performer who has earned the spotlight, Noam represents the banjo world well and I am thankful! -- Joe Mullins
Noam plays the banjo for the Punch Brothers and is one of the most-viewed banjo players in the world today. In addition to his highly acclaimed work with the Punch Brothers, Noam has released some very successful solo albums as well. 2011's Beat The Devil And Carry A Rail received a Grammy nomination for Bluegrass Album of the Year. His most recent album, Noam Pikelny Plays Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe, is a salute to Kenny Baker's classic album of Monroe instrumentals.
Joe is a fan of Noam's and regularly plays Noam's music on the radio. Joe was thrilled to learn than Noam is a fan of his as well. Noam was just as excited to meet Joe as Joe was to meet Noam!
