Saturday night July 27th, 2013 - I knew it would be really special to play the Grand Ole Opry, but EVERYTHING about the time on stage exceeded what I anticipated! As a musician, trying to entertain with a banjo for 30 years, we all hope to perform on "THE Show That Made Country Music Famous." But also as a broadcaster, anytime you are blessed to be heard on the longest running weekly radio program in US history, it's really an honor. And WOW - what reach and response immediately with WSM AM 650 and  WSM-OnLine. We have been blessed with hundreds of great comments of congratulations and encouragement from around the world.

We are very thankful for the gracious welcome we recieved from Hall of Famer Bill Anderson and Opry GM Pete Fisher. The Opry auditorium shook with approval after we did "Some Kind of War" and "Katy Daley." After we received a marvelous ovation from a sold out (4000 plus seats) Opry house audience, Bill Anderson especially made my night. I reached out and shook his hand as I was exiting the stage and said "Thanks, Bill." He held on to my hand and said "Come out here and enjoy this for a moment!" He lead me to the front of the stage as the applause continued to roar and let me take a bow. We chatted for a second and he informed the crowd we were already approved for a return visit!

As I finally exited the stage, we received the same warm, professional words of encouragement and congratulations from Pete Fisher and Vince Gill! Returning as an Opry guest again will be no problem - we really didn't want to leave at all!

While being received into the "Opry Circle" by legendary entertainers was very memorable, knowing we had a few hundred in the Opry audience who have been JMRR faithfuls since the beginning was most heart-warming. Each of us in the group had our entire families on hand to share the evening. We hosted a small reception afterwards for them and more than a hundred of our dearest friends, capping off a wonderful, blessed weekend.
